Chardonnay 2021 - The Verge fra Goldschmidt Vineyards, Sonoma

The Verge Chardonnay 2021 fra Goldschmidt, Sonoma

The VERGE comes from a 5 acre parcel in the northern part of the Russian River Valley. Key factors as a winemaker are the age of the vines being planted before Phylloxera wiped out many vineyards in 1989 and the plant material which is an old field selection chosen for its sub tropical aromas. This gentle east face slope and morning sun exposure vineyard, avoids the hot afternoon temperatures. East-facing slopes are important to maintain acid and fresh fruit flavors that hold true in tasting the wine as well.

2021 showed us a very long ripening season, probably the longest for the past twenty years.

With smaller berries and smaller clusters vineyard yields were lowers.

These factors make for a bright, fresh and full-flavored Chardonnay.

This wine has an attractive aroma of lemon curd with a bit of tropical fruit, but its greatest feature is a richness in the mid-palate.

Alc. 13.9%, Lagring: 9 months in new French barriques

Drue: 100% Chardonnay fra Russian River Valley.
