Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 The Conspirator fra Goldschmidt Vineyards, Napa Valley Californien
2018 was the latest in a strong of great vintages but quite unique in its own way. I would describe it as sensational. The first fruit to ripen on our property were the plums and the last before the grapes were the pears. All were so intense, early to ripen and that could only mean the grapes would be too. The grapes from our estate vineyard in Oakville developed through near perfect climate conditions beautifully.
There was a slow, steady build in both color and aromatics, but also a uniform maturing of tannins as well.
The result is a Napa classic. Dense, and highly polished. The rounded edges make the wines accessible in their youth, but the real payoff will come with bottle age, given the massive structure and concentration. Intense black color with beautiful aromatics of blackberry and ripe blueberry. The mouth is full and lush with violets, mixed berry, and creamy mocha. This Cabernet Sauvignon is approachable and delicious now.
